The Republican Unitary Producing Enterprise «Belmedpreparaty» has a number of unique production sites and is the only Belarusian manufacturer of insulin medicines, drugs of endocrine and biotechnological origin, medicines for treating cancer and tuberculosis, narcotic and psychotropic drugs. Almost all types of dosage forms are available: tablets with different coatings and without them, hard and soft gelatin capsules, solutions for injections and infusions in vials and ampoules, lyophilized and sterilely packaged powders for injections and infusions, medicines for eyes (drops), ointments, creams and gels, powders in sachet packages. In general, the company implements a multi-stage producing process based on high technologies, producing more than 350 kinds of medicines.
In partnership with other objects of the market, as well as medical institutions of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, the Republican Unitary Producing Enterprise «Belmedpreparaty» aims at ensuring high availability of medicines to improve the quality of patients’ life and their awareness.
Production territory of the enterprise occupies a total area of more than 20 hectares and includes 13 production workshops and 7 additional ones. Geographically, production sites are located in the cities: Minsk (2 sites), Skidel and Lida. Liquid medicines and disinfectants, powders for various purposes, sterically packaged antibiotics are manufactured at the production site in Lida. The production site in Skidel manufactures finished products (in the form of tablets and capsules), as well as biological preparations used in veterinary medicine and agriculture. Each production site has its own engineering infrastructure, which fully meets the needs of existing production sites, as well as has sufficient reserves for further increasing production volumes.
Since the mid-1990s, the company has carried out technical re-equipment of existing production sites, after that effective technologies were introduced to ensure the production of medicines according to the world’s standards; a site producing sterile antibiotics was put into operation, an investment project for producing injection medicines in ampoules and vials was implemented. In 2008, the modernization of tablet and capsule production site was completed. A new workshop complying with the requirements of GMP was commissioned and equipped with modern technologies of leading European manufacturers. In 2013, an investment project was implemented for production of anticancer medicines in the form of lyophilized powders and solutions for injection, for that reason a new building was built. Sites have been created for producing modern effective medicines for complex polychemotherapy for oncological, including onco-hematological, diseases. Unique insulator technologies have been introduced at the production sites. This production site is equipped by leading manufacturers in Italy, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
At the end of 2014, a technological production line of medicines in pre-filled syringes was commissioned, which marked a new stage in the production activities of the Republican Unitary Producing Enterprise «Belmedpreparaty». Medical and healthcare professionals from all over the world recognize and appreciate the benefits of prefilled syringes. In addition, the enterprise is implementing an innovative project for producing transdermal patches. At the end of 2015, a production site for sterile-packaged antibiotics was put into operation. The site includes two isolated areas, is equipped by Italian manufacturers, meets the requirements of GMP.
The Republican Unitary Producing Enterprise «Belmedpreparaty» provides quality at all stages of its activities. At the enterprise the main document of the quality management system is being functioned – the Policy of the top management of the Republican Unitary Producing Enterprise «Belmedpreparaty» in the field of quality, which defines the aims and goals at improving customers’ satisfaction with the products of the Republican Unitary Producing Enterprise «Belmedpreparaty». The company’s management annually assesses the implementation of the Policy and, if necessary, updates it.
In accordance with the approved standards and procedures, input quality control of raw and packaging materials, quality control of non-finished and finished products are being carried out, the stability of medicines is being inspected, samples of substances and finished products are being archived.

As a result of efforts for maintaining the quality of products at a high level, the company received Belarusian, Ukrainian and Romanian certificates of GMP standards.

Medicines manufactured by Open Joint Stock Company «Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations» are supplied regularly not only to the Russian Federation, but also to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Georgia, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Somalia, USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Estonia. In the very near future the plant plans to significantly expand the geography of sales: to enter the markets of South America, Africa, and Asian countries. The active introduction of the GMP quality system at the enterprise contributes to the implementation of these plans.
Traditionally, about half of the production volume manufactured by Open Joint Stock Company «Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations» is exported. The volume of exports in 2018 amounted to 65 million US dollars.
